«La salvatge» is the novel by Isabel-Clara Simó Monllor, published by labutxaca in paperback (272 pages, in Catalan).
Dorothy, a fourteen-year-old redhead, arrives like a breath of fresh air in the life of Joaquim Simon, a wealthy divorced man in his sixties. Joaquim adopts her and sets out to turn that «salvatge» into a perfect model, a kind of Pygmalion. The novel is a reflection on the desire for possession and its capacity for destruction.
Novel winner of the Premi Sant Jordi de Novel·la 1993, part of the Labutxaca collection (no. 65).
For readers of contemporary fiction in Catalan and of stories that explore the desire for possession.
Isabel-Clara Simó i Monllor was a Spanish journalist and writer. She is considered one of the most important writers in the Catalan language.
