«La regla de tres» is the novel by Antonio Gala, published by Editorial Planeta in hardback (302 pages, in Spanish).
The novelist Octavio Lerma, bisexual, retires to an island to write and reflect on his love, which seems cursed: those who have loved him have died. He falls in love with Aspasia Martel and with Leonardo, a younger man. The work interweaves that story with fragments of the manuscript and formulates the rule of three: whoever multiplies must be willing to divide.
The work belongs to Planeta's Clásicos de Nuestro Tiempo collection and was published in 1999.
For readers of Spanish fiction who appreciate love novels and reflections on solitude and desire.
Antonio Gala Velasco was a Spanish poet, playwright, novelist, and writer.
