«La prova del miele» is the erotic novel by Salwa Al-Neimi, published by Feltrinelli in paperback (102 pages, in Italian).
A cultured Syrian Muslim woman, raised in Damascus, moves to Paris to work in the university's Arabic studies library. The memory of a man who introduces her to eroticism drives her to explore Arabic erotic literature and her own childhood, and to challenge stereotypes about sex and Islam.
Work originally published in Arabic in 2007; this Italian edition, translated by Francesca Prevedello, appeared in Feltrinelli's I Narratori collection.
For readers interested in contemporary Arabic literature, eroticism, and a feminist perspective on sexuality in Islam.
