«La plaça del Diamant» is the novel by Mercè Rodoreda, published by Club Editor in paperback (268 pages, in Catalan).
It tells the life of Natàlia, a young woman from Barcelona who meets a man at a festival in Gràcia and sees her life take a turn: marriage turns her into Colometa, with a house full of pigeons and children, until the republic and the war change everything. Through her naive gaze, the narration conveys the unease of the war and the postwar period.
It belongs to the Club Editor Jove collection and closes with an afterword by Maria Barbal. Originally published in 1962, it is one of Rodoreda's most translated works (more than thirty languages).
Edition from the youth collection to bring classics closer to new readers of Catalan literature.
