«La noche del pecado» is the novel by Tahar Ben Jelloun, published in 1998 by Alfaguara in paperback (360 pages, in Spanish).

The novel interweaves three legendary cities of Morocco: Fez in the 1940s, Tangier in the 1950s, and Xauen today. Zina is conceived on a «night of error» and is marked as a bearer of misfortune; she only finds a place by taking revenge on the men she captivates with her beauty, in a story that evokes the tales of Scheherazade.
