«La nada cotidiana» is the novel by Cuban writer Zoé Valdés, published by Distribooks Inc in hardback (171 pages, in Spanish).
The protagonist, a Cuban woman, tries to live with the legacy of a revolution she never felt she belonged to, but finds only empty promises and a life marked by nothingness. With corrosive humor and irony, the novel portrays the disappointment and the moral and material void of an island that dreamed of building paradise.
Work originally published in 1995; this Spanish edition is from 1998.
For readers of Latin American fiction interested in a critical and poetic look at contemporary Cuba.
