«La madre» is the novel by Maxim Gorky published in hardback, with 370 pages, in Spanish.
The work follows a mother whose son is arrested for his revolutionary ideas; as she approaches her son's circle, she discovers a broader reality of injustice and inequality. Gorki shows how this awakening transforms her, combining an intimate portrait of the protagonist with a reflection on class struggle and political awakening.
Translation by F. Martos and introduction by José Rega Barco. This edition was published in Madrid in 1982 and is part of the PPP collection (popular poetry and prose).

Alexei Maximovich Peshkov, popularly known as Maxim Gorky, was a Russian and Soviet writer, journalist, and proponent of socialism. He was nominated five times for the Nobel Prize in Literature. Before his success as an author, he travelled widely across the Russian Empire, changing jobs frequently; these experiences would later influence his writing. He associated with fellow Russian writers Leo Tolstoy and Anton Chekhov, both mentioned by Gorky in his memoirs.
