The construction of a new institute in Getxo in 1966 unearths the story of Rogelio Cerón, a Falangist who secluded himself to care for a fig tree after the civil war. Marked by the hateful gaze of a child whose father he snatched away, Cerón lives tormented by guilt and the certainty that this child will seek revenge. This novel by Ramiro Pinilla explores themes of revenge, forgiveness, and the ironies of fate, offering a profound reflection on guilt and the weight of the past.
