«La Fundación» is the play by Spanish playwright Antonio Buero Vallejo, published by Espasa in paperback (173 pages, in Spanish).
Presented as a fable, the play poses a clash between reality and fiction: a group of characters believes itself comfortably installed in a foundation, but the apparent normality cracks and the protagonist's perception proves unreliable. The spectator thus witnesses a reflection on truth and the human condition.
The play was originally published in 1974; this edition in the Austral Collection is from 1994 and includes an introduction and reading guide by Francisco Javier Díez de Revenga.
Intended for high school students and readers wishing to approach Buero Vallejo's dramaturgy.
Antonio Buero Vallejo was a Spanish playwright associated with the Generation of '36 movement and considered the most important Spanish dramatist of the Spanish Civil War.
