«La distracción» is the novel by Luciano De Crescenzo, published by Grijalbo in paperback (176 pages, in Spanish).
Professor Bellavista, retired and seventy years old, supplements his pension by giving private philosophy lessons to three students. Bellavista uses unconventional teaching methods to bring his students closer to a discipline they find arid, amid conversations about love, old age and philosophy, with irony.
This edition was published in 2002. Professor Bellavista reappears twenty-three years later. The Spanish translation is by María Ángeles Cabré.
For readers of Italian fiction and contemporary fiction looking for a novel with philosophical dialogue and humour.
Luciano De Crescenzo was an Italian writer, film actor, director and engineer.
