«La Conversation de Bolzano» is the historical novel by Sándor Márai, published by Le Livre de Poche in paperback (284 pages, in French).
After escaping the prisons of Venice, Casanova takes refuge in Bolzano. Between Francesca, young and impassioned, and the unsettling Count of Parma, her old husband, the seducer faces the temptation of love and overcomes it in his own way. Inspired by an episode in Casanova's life, it is a novel of musical language, constructed like an opera.
Novel originally published in 1940 as «Vendégjáték Bolzanóban»; this 2002 French version was translated by Charles Zaremba and Natalia Zaremba-Huzsvai.
For readers of historical fiction and twentieth-century Central European literature.
Sándor Márai was a Hungarian writer, poet, and journalist.
