Maddalena, a thirty-year-old with an independent spirit, lives in the hills above Rimini in her paternal grandmother's old house. To support herself, she works as a cleaner, both in the mornings for a service cooperative and in the afternoons for select families. Through her eyes, we get to know her peculiar clients, from a couple terrified of being robbed to an elderly man who invents stories about minor film characters. With irony, the novel immerses us in Maddalena's world, marked by a bigoted family, a hermit brother, and a loving grandmother, as she reflects on her past and future relationships.
