«La azucarera» is the novel by Naguib Mahfuz, third part of the Cairo Trilogy, published by MR in 1999 in hardback (304 pages, in Spanish).
The novel closes the Cairo Trilogy and portrays the life of a middle-class family in Cairo from the First World War to the 1950s. Through its characters, Mahfuz explores political and social changes in Egypt, the clash between tradition and modernity, and family conflicts.
