«Isabel II: Una biografía (1830-1904)» is the historical biography by Isabel Burdiel, published by Taurus in hardback (944 pages, in Spanish).
It covers the reign of Isabel II from her accession to the throne as a child, which opened a civil war, to the crisis of the monarchy. Burdiel analyses her behaviour towards bourgeois values and the tension between the Crown and the liberal parties, key to understanding the position of the monarchy in Spanish liberalism until the Second Republic.
It was awarded the Premio Nacional de Historia in 2011 and belongs to the Taurus Pensamiento collection.
For readers of contemporary Spanish history, royal biographies and studies on the 19th-century monarchy.
