«Hypatia» is the historical novel by Pedro Gálvez, published by Debolsillo in paperback (272 pages, in Spanish).
A fictionalised biography of Hypatia of Alexandria, a fourth-century mathematician, astronomer and philosopher, daughter of Theon and teacher of a circle of scholars who made Alexandria a great centre of learning. The novel reconstructs her character and fate in an age of tensions, when religious fanaticism destroyed the museum and the library.
The work was originally published in 2004; this 2015 edition belongs to Debolsillo's Best Seller collection.
For readers of historical fiction and fictionalised biographies of antiquity.
