«Història amb pilotes» is the essay by Xavier Carmaniu Mainadé on history and football, published by Meteora in paperback (240 pages, in Catalan).
Starting from the question of whether one can learn history by talking about football, the essay proposes a starting eleven of footballers who were much more than athletes. Their biographies, marked by integrity in the face of dictatorships, poverty, racism and war, show how football can be a way to understand the great conflicts of the last 120 years.
The book is number 16 in the Cronos collection. Published in 2010, it includes 15 illustrations.
For football and history fans who want to discover the lives of players who transcended the sport.
