«Hijos del naufragio» is the novel by Juan Martínez-Val, published by Algaida Editores in hardback (387 pages, in Spanish).
Franz Kafka illuminates the closed world of the battleship Potemkin and the Soviet political climate of Stalin and Trotsky. Real and literary characters embark on an improbable cruise and form a chain of unsettling symbols; on their journey they discover Kafka's inner light, with death close by and sarcasm disguised as comedy.
The work was published in 2020 and won the XXIII Ciudad de Badajoz Novel Prize, which appears on the cover.
For readers of literary and historical fiction interested in the Soviet period, the figure of Kafka, and black humour.
