«Hijas de la noche en llamas» is the novel by Irene Gracia, published by Planeta in paperback (230 pages, in Spanish).
Three sisters cross the mirror of fable, evoking the Greek legend of the maidens of Argos, and embody bitter dualities and powerful drives. In a world of angelic and bestial creatures, revenge is a brave way of embracing life, and memory and desire carry the story to the other side of consciousness.
Hijas de la noche en llamas belongs to Planeta's Autores españoles e iberoamericanos collection. Irene Gracia's first novel was Fiebre para siempre.
For readers of contemporary Spanish fiction interested in lyrical and unsettling prose, in the line of the expressionism of Djuna Barnes and Violette Leduc.
