«Hector Berlioz (1 livre + 1 CD audio)» is the children's book with audio CD about the composer's life, by Christian Wasselin and others, in paperback.
The story shows Berlioz's childhood: his father wanted him to study medicine, but music marked him at his first communion and changed his destiny. He also dreamed of becoming a sailor; from his home he gazed at the Alps and imagined what lay beyond, especially Italy. That fascination with travel and landscapes would end up inspiring his music.
The French edition was published in 1999 in the «Découverte des Musiciens» collection by Gallimard Jeunesse.
For young readers approaching classical music and the lives of the great composers.
Charlotte Voake is a Welsh children's illustrator who has won several awards including the Nestlé Smarties Book Prize in 1997.
