«Genpei» is Kara Dalkey's historical fantasy novel, published by Tor Books in hardback, with 444 pages and text in English.
In twelfth-century Japan, the Genpei War pits the Minamoto and Taira clans against each other for power. The novel weaves history and legend together: samurai, battles and ancestral secrets coexist with warrior spirits, and the line between reality and myth blurs throughout the conflict.
First edition published in 2001 in New York. The cover bears the subtitle «A Fantasy»; the Genpei War lasted from 1180 to 1185.
For readers of historical fantasy interested in medieval Japan and clan warfare.
