«Gargantua et Pantagruel» is Dino Battaglia's comic based on François Rabelais's novel, published by Mosquito in hardback.
Dino Battaglia adapts the escapades of Gargantua and his son Pantagruel, two giants of tremendous appetite and strength, to comic form. With expressive drawing and a burlesque tone, the work recreates the adventures, banquets and battles of Rabelais's tale, and uses absurdity and exaggeration to parody the education, justice and power of its time.
Battaglia's original adaptation dates from 1985; this Mosquito edition is from 2001.
For readers of European comics and for anyone who wants to discover Rabelaisian satire in an illustrated version.
