«Fuxir» is a novel by Jean-Philippe Toussaint, published by Editorial Galaxia in paperback (158 pages, in Galician).
The novel moves between contemporary Shanghai and the island of Elba: two opposing spaces, urban China and a rural, remote Europe, framing a reflection on the strangeness of love, the closeness of death and the speed of time. Jean-Philippe Toussaint deploys a meticulous prose with an enveloping rhythm.
Second instalment of the «Marie Madelaine Marguerite de Montalte» series, translated by Carmen Torres París and M.ª Dolores Torres París. Prix Médicis 2005.
Readers of contemporary and European fiction; a work for those seeking reflective narratives about travel and uprootedness.
