«Frankenstein» is the graded reader in English by Mary Shelley, adapted by Elizabeth Gray, published by Express Publishing in paperback (34 pages).
Victor Frankenstein gives life to a creature and abandons it; the adaptation includes the encounter in which the creature asks him why he has brought it into a world of hatred and demands the love it has never received. The story reflects on loneliness, rejection and the creator's responsibility.
It corresponds to the Illustrated Readers series, level 3, of Express Publishing's ELT graded readers.
Intended for students of English as a foreign language and for young readers approaching gothic literature for the first time.
Elizabeth Gray was a Scottish early fossil collector. Gray created scientifically organised collections of fossils for several museums.
