«Evangelii Gaudium» is the first apostolic exhortation of Pope Francis, published by Paulus in paperback, with 208 pages in Portuguese.
Pope Francis draws on the recommendations of the Synod of Bishops on the new evangelization to invite the faithful to a new missionary stage. In five chapters he addresses the transformation of the Church, the proclamation of the Gospel, the social dimension of faith, and evangelization with the Spirit, with joy and commitment.
Published in November 2013, it was presented at the close of the Year of Faith. The subtitle, «A Alegria do Evangelho», means «The Joy of the Gospel».
Aimed at Catholic faithful, theology scholars, and readers interested in the magisterium of Pope Francis and the new evangelization.
Pope Francis was head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of Vatican City from 13 March 2013 until his death in 2025. He was the first Jesuit pope, the first Latin American, and the first pope born or raised outside Europe since the 8th-century Syrian pope Gregory III.
