«Esplendor» is the contemporary fiction novel by Margaret Mazzantini, published by Seix Barral in hardback (384 pages, in Spanish).
In 1970s Rome, Guido and Constantino meet as children: the former grows up in an affluent family; the latter is the doorman's son. An intense connection between two worlds separated by a mahogany lift becomes a love story that must make its way in a society marked by prejudice.
The novel was originally published in Italian as «Splendore», translated by Isabel González-Gallarza and included in the Biblioteca Formentor collection.
For readers of literary fiction and stories about 1970s Rome, with a narrative centred on homosexuality and identity.
