In June 1655, Michel Millot is arrested in Paris, accused of being the author of a book contrary to good customs entitled L'École des filles. Millot is sentenced to die on the gallows in the same place where the copies of the book are burned. The sentence was not carried out, but all copies of the work were withdrawn from circulation. Only thanks to some copies sent to Holland and kept in the Hell of the National Library of France, one of the masterpieces of libertine literature has come into our hands. Two cousins have a conversation about men in which the initiated, without sentimental artifice and with a brazenly unprejudiced attitude, tries to convince the novice of the benefits of sexual pleasure. Being a work of great literary interest, the most enduring value of Escuela de doncellas is its ability to disturb the reader through the simple elevation of the woman's desire to the supreme norm of her sexual morality.
