«El Zahir» is Paulo Coelho's novel, published by Planeta in 2005 in paperback (286 pages, in Spanish).
A world-famous writer sees his wife, a war correspondent, disappear without a trace. Her absence becomes an obsession, and he abandons his privileged life, traveling from France to Spain, Croatia, and the plains of Central Asia in search of answers. Coelho weaves autobiographical touches into the narrative to explore love, freedom, and the contradictions of those who claim to love.
Novel originally published as O Zahir. The Spanish translation is by Ana Belén Costas.
For readers of contemporary fiction seeking a story of personal quest with reflections on love and obsession.
