«El vampirillo» is the children's novel by Renate Welsh, published by Espasa-Calpe in paperback (120 pages, in Spanish).
Mrs Lizzi discovers a tiny vampire in her flat and, far from being frightened, takes care of it. She soon finds that the creature has an extraordinary ability: with a small bite it extracts bad thoughts from angry people and restores calm to those around it.
The work was originally published as Das Vamperl in 1979 and is the first instalment of the series of the same name. The Spanish edition is from 2004.
The book is aimed at child and young readers who enjoy fantastical stories.
