«El Tartufo / Don Juan» is the theatre volume by Molière that brings together two of his works, published by Austral in paperback (208 pages, in Spanish).
The volume brings together two key plays by Molière. 'El Tartufo' criticises false religious piety through a character who feigns virtue, while 'Don Juan' questions the social conventions and morality of his time. Both works explore hypocrisy as a driving force of society and combine the comic with the dramatic.
Volume in the Austral Clásica collection (Theatre series), published in June 2017. Includes the translations by José Escué and Mauro Armiño and a prologue by Alain Verjat.
For lovers of theatre and classics of French literature, with two fundamental works by Molière.
Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, known by his stage name Molière, was a French playwright, actor, and poet, widely regarded as one of the great writers in the French language and world literature. His extant works include comedies, farces, tragicomedies, comédie-ballets, and more. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed at the Comédie-Française more often than those of any other playwright today. His influence is such that the French language is often referred to as the "language of Molière".
