In a dystopian future, the novel presents a world transformed into an archipelago where two factions coexist: the Own, inhabitants of the islands, and the Others, exiled by ideological and economic conflicts. In this context, the island of Reality emerges, where the Narrator, a watchman, faces the possible threat of the enemies of order. As his certainties crumble, he becomes an uncomfortable and dangerous thinker.
