«El novelista» is the novel by Ramón Gómez de la Serna, published by Espasa-Calpe in paperback (287 pages, in Spanish).
The novel follows Andrés Castilla, a writer devoted to the simultaneous drafting of several works, whose routine is interrupted by visits and trips to cities such as Paris, London or Lisbon. Gómez de la Serna thus offers a portrait of the compulsive novelist and a reflection on literary creation and its results.
This edition, an extra volume of the Austral Collection, bears number 1524 and the work was published in 1973.
Ramón Gómez de la Serna y Puig, born in Madrid, was a Spanish writer, dramatist and avant-garde agitator. He strongly influenced surrealist film maker Luis Buñuel.
