«El mundo según Garp» is a novel by John Irving, published by Orbis in hardback (510 pages, in Spanish).
The story follows Garp from his childhood with his mother, the nurse Jenny Fields, a woman who decides to live outside conventions. Irving combines comedy and gravity to build a tale populated by eccentric characters; Garp, a writer, observes the world with irony as sexuality, feminism, violence, and the human condition intersect.
The original work is The World According to Garp (1978), winner of the National Book Award. This edition, with translation by Iris Menéndez, belongs to the Grandes Pasiones de la Literatura collection.
For readers of contemporary literary fiction and modern classics.
