She was born in Quart de Poblet (Valencia) in 1977 and started writing novels when she was only eleven.
She earned a PhD in Hispanic philology from the University of Valencia with a thesis on chivalric romances.
She won the Premio Barco de Vapor in 1999, aged just twenty-one, with Finis Mundi, her first published novel.
The Memories of Idhún trilogy (2004-2006) established her as one of the most widely read young adult fantasy authors in Spanish.
In 2012 she won Spain's Premio Nacional de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil for Donde los árboles cantan.
