«El mundo es un pañuelo» is David Lodge's comic novel, published by Editorial Anagrama in paperback (424 pages, in Spanish).
A young professor meets an enigmatic woman at a seminar and pursues her around the world, from conference to conference, among international intellectuals and speakers. David Lodge composes an ironic comedy about globalised academic life, with nods to the romantic novel, the Arthurian cycle and current literary theories.
This edition, published in 2006, belongs to Anagrama's Compactos collection (number 130) and is the second instalment of The Campus Trilogy; the original title of the work is Small World.
Recommended for readers of literary comedy and academic satire, and for fans of David Lodge and contemporary British fiction.

David John Lodge was an English novelist and critic. He was a literature professor at the University of Birmingham until 1987, and some of his novels satirise academic life, notably the "Campus Trilogy" – Changing Places: A Tale of Two Campuses (1975), Small World: An Academic Romance (1984) and Nice Work (1988). The latter two were shortlisted for the Booker Prize. Another theme is Roman Catholicism, beginning from his first published novel The Picturegoers (1960).
