«El guitarrista» is the novel by Luis Landero, published by Maxi-Tusquets in paperback (336 pages, in Spanish).
Emilio, a mechanic's apprentice, studies in the afternoons; when his cousin Raimundo arrives from Paris telling of his successes as a flamenco guitarist, he lets himself be seduced by the bohemian life and learns to play the guitar. That skill brings him closer to Adriana, his boss's wife, and to a trap more dangerous than the one in the workshop.
