«El Giocondo» is the novel by Spanish writer Francisco Umbral, published by Lectorum Pubns in paperback (191 pages, in Spanish).
It narrates the Madrid night through El Giocondo, a young man seeking pure love surrounded by actors, artists and solitary creatures of the «dark love». With lyrical and highly literary prose, Umbral turns the city into a stage of cafés, clubs and loves in the open, and composes a portrait of the Madrid dolce vita.
Originally published in 1975, this edition is part of the Colección Popular Planeta (number 6).
For readers of 20th-century Spanish fiction interested in the literary portrait of the Madrid night and its marginal characters.
