In the year 985, Barcelona suffered one of the most devastating episodes in its history: the razia of Almansur. The vizier Almansur, in command of forty thousand men, set out to sack the city, the capital of the most powerful county south of the Pyrenees. Enric Calpena narrates this event, where characters such as Count Borrell, the young viscount Udalard, and the wise viscountess vídua Geriberga prepare to defend the city. However, the misfortune looming over the walls could be a test of the Antichrist on the inhabitants of Barcelona, as has already happened in Rome and other kingdoms of Christendom.
