Giovanni Drogo, a young officer posted to a border fortress, waits for years for a great battle that never comes. That wait, fuelled by routine and illusion, becomes a meditation on solitude, hope, resignation and the passage of time.

Aimed at readers of contemporary fiction and war novels with an existential backdrop, rather than action-driven plots.
