«El caganer» is the children's story by Mònica Abad, published by SUSAETA in hardback (10 pages, in Catalan).
Maria discovers a curious figure in the nativity scene, the caganer, and asks why it must be there. Her father tells her the Catalan tradition: by defecating, the caganer fertilises the earth and, placed in the nativity scene, ensures a good year for the family. A story with full-colour illustrations that brings this Christmas custom closer to children.
Part of the Tradicions catalanes collection. With illustrations by Guadalupe Guardia. Recommended age: from 3 years.
For the little ones, a book designed to discover Catalan Christmas traditions as a family.
