«El atentado» is the novel by Tomás Salvador, winner of the Premio Planeta in 1960 and published by Planeta in hardback (272 pages, in Spanish).
The novel tells the story of a man about to die and of the men tasked with killing him. From that situation, the author examines the assassination as an act of physical violence that does not depend on politics, fashion, or social revenge, but rather sinks its roots into the history of the human being. With a direct and concise style, Salvador analyzes the motivations and consequences of that act, turning the work into a reflection on the human condition.
The work won the Premio Planeta in 1960. This edition belongs to the Autores Españoles e Hispanoamericanos collection.
Recommended for readers of contemporary Spanish fiction and for those seeking award-winning classics of twentieth-century literature.
