«Égalité des hommes et des femmes, à la reyne, suivi de poésies latines et françaises» is the feminist essay by Marie Le Jars de Gournay, in paperback.
In this essay, Marie Le Jars de Gournay defends intellectual and social equality between men and women. Differences between the sexes, she argues, are not due to natural inferiority but to unequal education and opportunities. The text, addressed to the queen, is accompanied by a selection of Latin and French poems.
The text is in French and reproduces the original 1622 edition. The edition is part of the BNF heritage conservation programme, with print-on-demand by Hachette Livre.
Intended for readers of philosophy and the history of ideas, especially those interested in feminism and seventeenth-century French thought.
