«Diário de Uma Nanny» is the satirical novel by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus, published by Casa das Letras in paperback (256 pages, in Portuguese).
A New York university student takes a nanny job for a four-year-old boy in a wealthy Park Avenue family. What seems simple becomes a satire of Manhattan's upper class: sixteen-hour shifts, a paltry salary and a crumbling marriage, told with mordant wit and a look at affectionless opulence.
First instalment of the Nanny series. Originally published as «The Nanny Diaries» in 2002; this Portuguese edition appeared in February 2008. The novel was adapted into a film.
For readers of chick lit and humour who want a social satire set in New York.
