«Demain dans la bataille pense à moi» is the novel by Javier Marías, published by Folio in paperback (464 pages, in French).
Víctor, a recently divorced television screenwriter, goes to dinner at the home of Marta, a married woman and mother. When the two are alone, Marta feels unwell and dies suddenly. In the early hours, in an unfamiliar flat in Madrid, Víctor decides to flee rather than alert anyone, and from then on he is swept along by a series of unforeseeable events. The novel delves into dissimulation, lies, self-deception and rejection of those we have loved.
Novel translated into French by Alain Keruzoré, originally published in 1994 under the title «Mañana en la batalla piensa en mí». Winner of the Rómulo Gallegos International Novel Prize and the Prix Femina étranger.
Recommended for readers of contemporary fiction and translated Spanish literature, interested in a dense, reflective style with psychological suspense.
