«De jonge Wallander» is the collection of crime stories by Henning Mankell, published by De Geus in hardback (507 pages, in Dutch).
The book brings together five stories and short novels that portray episodes from Kurt Wallander's life before the start of the novel series: from his years as an officer in Malmö in 1969 to 1990, when he is already an inspector in Ystad. Mankell shows how the detective became the character readers know.
The work was originally published in Swedish as «Pyramiden» (1999) and this Dutch edition is from 2004, translated by Edith Sybesma. It is the ninth title in the Kurt Wallander series.
For fans of the Inspector Wallander series and readers of Nordic noir who want to learn about the character's origins.
