«Danaide» is the poetry collection by María Sanz, published in 2012 by Fundación José Manuel Lara in paperback (80 pages, in Spanish).
The collection builds a lyrical monologue around a danaid, a solitary female figure marked by waiting and discouragement. Its verses, filled with images of water and desire, portray the search for fulfilment, anonymous surrender and the decision to live against the current. The poetic voice also addresses absence and heartbreak without losing lucidity.
Work awarded the II Ibero-American Poetry Prize Hermanos Machado. Published in the Vandalia collection.
For readers of poetry in Spanish and of titles awarded in literary competitions.
