«Cuando fui mortal» is the short story collection by Javier Marías, published by Punto De Lectura in paperback (224 pages, in Spanish).

The twelve stories mix social chronicle and ghost story. A Spanish doctor visits the homes of married women in Paris at night, a bodyguard wishes for the death of his charge, and a ghost knows everything that happened in his life. In few pages Marías sustains a tension comparable to that of his novels.
