«Cold Comfort Farm» is the novel by Stella Gibbons adapted for Oxford Bookworms Library (level 6) and published by Oxford University Press in paperback.
Flora Poste, a sensible young Londoner, moves in with her relatives, the Starkadders, a chaotic and taciturn rural family. With common sense, she begins to put the farm and the lives of its eccentric inhabitants, such as the authoritarian Aunt Ada Doom, in order. The version retains the satirical humour of this rural comedy by Stella Gibbons.
Level 6 of Oxford Bookworms Library, subtitled «2500 Headwords»; 144 pages, published in 2000.
Aimed at English students who want to read a work of English literature in a graded version; recommended reading from age 17.
