«C'est la vie, mes chéris» is the children's and young adult novel by Eglal Errera, published by Actes Sud junior in paperback (103 pages, in French).
Rebecca lives in Alexandria with her parents. When Sabrine, the mother of her best friend Nayra, dies after an illness, the girl wonders how to comfort Nayra in her grief. Between macarons, tears over a first love and old Milo's phrase, «C'est la vie, mes chéris !», this story speaks of friendship, loss and the way a girl faces the death of a loved one.
The novel, originally published in 2005, is illustrated by Renaud Perrin and belongs to the «Cadet» collection from Actes Sud junior.
Recommended for children's and young adult readers, especially those wishing to practise reading in French.
