«Cartas de inverno» is the young-adult mystery and horror novel by Agustín Fernández Paz, published by Xerais in paperback (152 pages, in Galician).
After returning from a stay in Quebec, writer Xabier Louzao finds the letters his friend Adrián wrote to him during his absence. In them, Adrián recounts the strange events he experiences in his new house and asks for help. Xabier goes there and, in an old colonial house, both face unsettling mysteries. The narrative is structured like Russian dolls, with several interwoven voices.
Work awarded the Rañolas Prize for the best Galician children's and young-adult book of 1995. 2008 edition, in the Fóra de Xogo collection.
Aimed at young readers aged 11 and up, with a taste for mystery and suspense.
