«Cartas a un viejo amigo difunto» is Antonio Prieto's epistolary novel, published by Seix Barral in paperback (240 pages, in Spanish).
A former professor writes to Hilario, his deceased friend, with whom he shared a passion for classical studies. Between Spain and Italy, he recalls their friendship and evokes Augustan imperial Rome. Two times and two figures of Clodia converge: one beside the emperor, sung by Alexandrian poets, and another a neighbour of Tíjola, Hilario's housekeeper and a prostitute.
The work belongs to Seix Barral's Biblioteca Breve collection. Publication date: 7 November 2013.
Aimed at readers of epistolary novels and narrative with a historical background from the classical world.
